Are you Interested in making the most of the National Trust and do you live in North Staffordshire? Then do join the North Staffordshire National Trust Association to enjoy special interest visits, holidays, talks and other social events. You'll be joining with fellow members to enlarge your appreciation of our heritage and also be helping a great cause . The North Staffordshire Association is a voluntary association of National Trust members living in the North Staffordshire area. It was founded in 1980 to provide an activity focus for local members of the National Trust. The Association runs a varied programme of events, and makes donations every year to assist particular projects within the National Trust.Activities Car and Coach
Outings
There is a programme of coach and car outings throughout the year and, usually a holiday lasting about 4 nights in another part of the country and, on occasion, to a foreign destination. Outings have included stately homes, both National Trust and privately owned, gardens, museumsand concerts. Coach outings normally leave from Brunswick Street , Newcastle-under-Lyme. Association members have priority when booking outings; they should use the booking form provided with the current Newsletter. Monthly Lectures In the autumn and winter there is a series of monthly talks. These normally begin at 7.30 p.m. and are held in the North Staffs Conference Centre (formerly the Medical Institute), Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent, where there is ample free parking. Past talks have included "Kyrgyzstan", "The British Ceramics Biennial", "What have trees ever done for us?", "Pilots n' Petticoats - Women Masters of the Sky" and "Grace Kelly". We also receive updates by representatives from National Trust sites. Anyone is welcome to attend the evening meetings at the Medical Institute, although there is a small charge for non-members of the Association (currently £3). Rambles and Lunches From time to time, rambles of local interest and lunches are also arranged. Recent walks have included Deep Hayes Country Park and at Broughton and Fairoak. The Committee
The Association's activites are organised by a committee and run by
volunteers. The committee
is elected annually. The Association welcomes practical help offered
by any of our members; please contact us.
Membership
Membership of the Association is open to all who support the aims of the National
Trust and we are very pleased to welcome new members.
To apply, complete the
membership form and return it with a cheque for the
appropriate amount to the Membership
Secretary
Donations by the Association to the National Trust The Association tries to make a small profit on
the various activities in order to support specific
projects at our local National Trust properties. In recent years,
support has been given to projects at Little Moreton Hall, Biddulph
Grange Gardens, Downs Bank and the Lleyn Peninsula.
